Rokita column: New Austerity in Our Future

No wonder it doesn't feel much like a recovery. According to statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau, the "recovery" has been tougher on most Americans than the recession we are supposed to be recovering from. During the recession - between December 2007 and June 2009 - median income fell 3.2 percent. Astonishingly, since the recession officially ended more than two years ago, median income has declined twice as much as it did during the economic downturn, falling 6.7 percent.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is a time to spend with family and friends, and of course, reflect and give thanks for the blessings in our lives. Times are tough for many individuals and families, and for our nation. But despite the challenges we face as individuals and as a nation, we must always keep perspective and recognize all there is to be thankful for as Americans.

The Balanced Budget Amendment is a Bipartisan Solution

Take a moment to read this letter from Rep. Peter DeFazio to members of his party encouraging them to support H.J. Res 2, the bipartisan Balanced Budget Amendment. This legislation simply says that Congress will not spend more than the government takes in. It's common sense.
