Congressman Rokita Statement on Trinity Lutheran V. Comer Decision

School Choice Advocates Celebrate Decision

Washington, D.C.--Chairman of the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education released the following statement following the Supreme Court’s ruling on Trinity Lutheran V. Comer.

“Being heavily involved in the school choice movement at the national and local levels, I commend the Supreme Court’s ruling that Missouri was violating the Constitution when they withheld funds from Trinity Lutheran school. This is an important victory in the fight against religious discrimination and for school choice advocates.  This decision ensures religious institutions should not have burdens placed on them because they are religious.  Practically speaking, this may create school choice options for families looking to attend quality religious schools. I am looking forward to continuing to work with Secretary DeVos, President Trump, and Vice President Pence who likewise believes in the importance of school choice.”
