Rokita Congratulates Secretary of State Lawson
Danville, IN – U.S. Representative Todd Rokita made the following statement upon the appointment of Connie Lawson as Indiana’s Secretary of State.
“Earlier today, I called to congratulate Indiana’s new Secretary of State, Connie Lawson. Governor Daniels’s selection of Secretary Lawson to serve as Indiana’s chief elections officer is a wise one. Through her work as a county clerk and also in the Indiana State Senate, Connie has proven herself time and again as an intelligent and competent public servant who has shown great integrity throughout her career. At every turn during my eight years as Secretary of State, Connie was instrumental in helping us cross the legislative hurdles so we could make solid, common-sense election reforms like the Voter ID law, statewide voter registration system, online voter registration and the Vote Center option we made available to Indiana counties. I wish Connie the best in her new role as Indiana’s Secretary of State.”
Representative Todd Rokita served as Indiana’s Secretary of State from 2003 until 2011 and is a Member of the House of Representatives, representing Indiana’s 4th District.
