Rokita Issues Statement on Obama Administration’s Immigration Announcement

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita today issued the following statement in response to the Obama administration’s announcement that it would end deportations for hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants:

“The fact that so many people want to come to America from other countries is a testament to how exceptional America is, but our exceptionalism depends on government by the consent of the governed. The American people deserve laws, including immigration and border security policies, that have been fully debated and passed through Congress – not dictated by the president as though he were a king.

“Immigrating to America is a privilege, not a right, and it’s important that those who want to become Americans demonstrate respect for our rule of law,” said Rokita.
