Rokita Opens Lafayette Office

Aug 9, 2011 Issues: Congressional Issues

Today Representative Todd Rokita officially opened a district office in Lafayette.

“When I first ran for Congress, I promised to open an office here in Lafayette.  Today I am making good on that promise.  My staff and I stand ready to serve the residents of this community,” Rokita said.“We are always here to help.”

“But there is a more important promise I made, a promise I am always going to keep.  That’s my promise to work, not just for you and not just for our generation, but for future generations.  The most important thing I can do to keep that promise is go to Washington every week and fight to balance our budget, pay down our debt and strengthen our economy so that our children and grandchildren have the same freedom and opportunity we have had,” Rokita said.

Rokita was joined at the office opening by community leaders, business leaders, elected officials and citizens of the community.  Lafayette Chamber President Joe Seaman offered welcoming remarks and speakers included Joan Bonnet, Ersal Ozdemir, a Purdue graduate and President of Keystone Construction, Patricia Hauber of Caterpillar, Dr. Andrew Fischer, a Lafayette doctor, and Alan Kemper, a Tippecanoe farmer and President of the American Soybean Assocation.

West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis, Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski, and Monticello Mayor Jason Thompson were in attendance as well as Tippecanoe County Commissioners Tom Murtaugh, John Knochel and David Byers, and Tippecanoe County Council members Kathy Vernon, John Basham and Dave Williams.  Tippecanoe County Clerk Christa Coffey, and State Representatives Randy Truitt and Heath Van Natter were also present.

Rokita’s office is located in the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce building at 337 Columbia Street in Lafayette.  It is open Monday-Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Rokita also has district offices in Danville and Mitchell.
