ROKITA REACTS TO PRESIDENT TRUMP’S ADDRESS TO CONGRESS

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Rokita released the following statement regarding President Trump’s address to Congress.

“President Trump was sent to Washington to change business-as-usual, and tonight’s address laid out just how he is going to do that.  His plans for education, tax reform, and healthcare show once again that he is focused on empowering the hardworking taxpayers of this country, not federal bureaucrats.

“As the Chairman of the K-12 Education subcommittee, I was especially encouraged to hear the President reiterate his support for increasing access to school choice across our nation.  I have been a longtime advocate for school choice, introducing legislation like the CHOICE Act and the Educational Opportunities Act that would provide tax credits for organizations and individuals who contribute to scholarships for children in need.  With Donald Trump in the White House, I know that I now have a partner in the effort to ensure that no child's future is determined by their zip code.”
