While there are areas I agree with the President, there are also areas of tonight’s State of the Union with which I strongly disagree. Over the past 7 years, I’ve learned that the President who lectured his co-equal branches of government and offered his latest sales pitch is not the President who acted yesterday or will act tomorrow.
ROKITA LEADS PASSAGE OF RECONCILIATION BILL THAT REPEALS OBAMACARE, DEFUNDS PLANNED PARENTHOOD, AND ANSWERS THE PRESIDENT’S CALL TO END GUN VIOLENCE
Aside from righting the wrong which is ObamaCare, the President should take this opportunity to act on his tearful rhetoric from yesterday by signing into law the new mental healthcare funding included in this bill.
I will not give up on Hoosiers and the American people. Rest assured, I will continue to fight this latest guise and protect our God given right to protect ourselves and preserve our Constitutional freedom.
“This package is a good step forward to locking in conservative reforms that will help put this country back on the right track. It is important going into next year that the Senate do their job and pass critical appropriations bills on time,” added Rokita.
"I am proud to have led this bill out of the Subcommittee and onto the President’s desk. This bill gives power back to the people. It gets Washington out of our classrooms and lets the states take control of how they educate their children," Rep. Todd Rokita.
ROKITA HELPS LEAD PASSAGE OF BIPARTISAN, BICAMERAL HIGHWAY FUNDING BILL BRINGING OVER $5 BILLION TO INDIANA’S INFRASTRUCTURE
“Indiana is known as ‘the Crossroads of America’ and I am fighting for policies that will not leave an infrastructure debt of crumbling roads and bridges to future generations. The FAST Act will responsibly bring over $5 billion to Indiana in the next five years and incorporates Hoosier innovation that will improve traffic congestion, vehicle safety, and roadways. The bill also restores local control over decision making so states and local governments have more flexibility to address their unique infrastructure priorities,” said Rep. Rokita.
“This bill empowers states and ends federally mandated, unproductive, high stakes testing, the core of ‘No Child Left Behind,’” said Rep. Rokita.
“I commend the Mooresville school officials, teachers, and police department for their vigilance. Cooperation between school officials and law enforcement ensured this plan never came to fruition. Communication, like Mooresville demonstrated yesterday, was a key discussion at the School Safety Summit I hosted last week,” said Rokita.
I have visited over 30 schools during the last few years where we discussed school safety. I have also studied school safety technology with the security industry and best practices with law enforcement. One of the things I learned is that those groups were not always talking with each other. Today’s event is meant to reverse that," said Rep. Rokita.
This bill honors our Constitutional duty to the American people to keep them safe by requiring the Obama Administration to verify that any refugees from Syria or Iraq entering the United States have no terrorist or radical sympathies," Rep. Todd Rokita
