ICYMI: Rokita Calls on Congress to Postpone August Recess

Danville, IN — This morning, Congressman Todd Rokita, Vice Chairman of the House Budget Committee, called for Congress to postpone August recess.  In a TV interview with CBS4Indy’s Matt Smith, Rokita said Congress should stay until they finish their work.

“I am calling on my Congressional colleagues to postpone the August recess until we fulfill our promise to repeal Obamacare. The failures of Obamacare are visible every day with more and more Americans losing coverage. Two weeks ago, two insurers announced they are leaving the individual marketplace in Indiana. In my congressional district, at least 2,700 Hoosiers will lose their coverage and in 11 of 16 counties there will only be one insurer, again due solely to the failures of Obamacare’s misguided government-knows-best approach.

“I agree with Majority Leader McConnell’s announcement to postpone recess. The Senate is poised for action on Obamacare and we should be ready to work immediately on getting the President a bill. If we are not finished with our work by the start of recess, we should not go home.”
