Rep. Rokita: May We Never Take for Granted Those Who Served in Vietnam

DANVILLE, IN -- Today, Congressman Todd Rokita released a special message honoring the brave men and women who served in the Vietnam War.

"Thirty years ago, President Ronald Reagan spoke about how the heroes of the Vietnam war imparted a huge lesson to all Americans. That lesson was a lesson of love. A love for their families, to their comrades, and for their country. A love that empowered them to fight on freedoms front so that our nation could be a living testimony of democracy and champions of freedom. Unfortunately, when our brave vets came home from that long and hard war, they did not receive the hero’s welcome they deserved. Amid political strife and controversy, our soldiers were left to heal and carry on without the honor they duly earned. Although it’s been over forty years since the end of the Vietnam War, we are now honoring those brave men and women for their selfless service on this National Vietnam War Veterans Day. May we never take for granted the dedication and patriotism of those who served in Vietnam."

Rokita has proudly been fighting on behalf of all Veterans by hosting Veteran resource fairs in the 4th District, helping lead legislation like the Veterans Crisis Line Study Act of 2017, and volunteering as a pilot to fly our Veterans to medical appointments they need, and to visit their families and unit members they have across the country.
