Rokita Votes to Cut House of Representatives’ Budget
On Friday Rep. Todd Rokita voted to cut his budget and the budget of the House of Representatives by 6.4 percent for 2012. In January, Rokita voted to cut the House’s budget by 5 percent.
“At a time families and businesses across our country our cutting back and struggling to make ends meet, government must do the same. After racking up $14.3 trillion in debt, making $70 trillion in unfunded promises it can never fulfill and implementing miles of bureaucratic red tape hostile to economic growth, the first institution to have its budget cut should be Congress,” Rokita said.
“I ran for Congress to stop the out-of-control spending that is choking our economy and stealing freedom and economic opportunity from future generations,”Rokita said. “With every vote I take in Congress, I am working to cut spending, whether it’s millions or trillions. Every dollar we save today is one less our children and grandchildren will have to repay.”
The FY 2012 Legislative Branch Appropriations Act cuts the budget of the House of Representatives by $227 million. The Legislative Branch Appropriations Act passed 252-159.
